VOLUNTEERS are being sought to take part in community challenges to benefit elderly residents in York.
York Cares is co-ordinating team challenges for companies to improve the indoor and outdoor living spaces for residents in sheltered housing or in care homes.
Challenges include gardening projects at Mill Lodge in Huntington Road and The Glebe in Dunnington, and transforming living spaces in Peppermill Court in Ramsey Close and Windsor House in Acomb. Other “turn up and do challenges” include replanting the pond at Clifton Backies and litter picking at Hob Moor Local Nature Reserve.
York Cares is a partnership of the city’s employers “committed to making York a better place through employee-volunteering”.
The organisation is appealing for help from teams of people and individuals.
