MOTORISTS in the Fishergate area of York are facing delays because of roadworks – for the second time in less than two months.
Temporary four-way traffic lights were put in place yesterday at the junction of Cemetery Road and Kent Street, to allow Northern Gas Networks engineers to repair a leaking gas main.
The work is expected to take a week to complete and the company is advising drivers to allow extra time for journeys.
Cemetery Road was hit by congestion earlier this year when traffic was diverted on to it from nearby Fishergate, which was closed to allow for repairs by Yorkshire Water to the mains sewers.
Meanwhile, temporary four-way lights will also be in operation at the junction of Boroughbridge Road and Beckfield Lane from next Monday for between four and seven days.
A spokesman for Northern Gas Networks apologised for any inconvenience and said the company would actively seek to minimise disruption.
