APPLETON Roebuck lead the way in division six of the IT Sports Mixed Doubles Tennis League – but only one point separates the top four teams.

Roebuck edged ahead of their rivals after unbeaten Geoff Bullock and Amber Hickman sealed the points in a close match against previous leaders Wigginton.

Chris Parks and Rachel Price won all three rubbers to move Alne into second place with games difference keeping them ahead of David Lloyd.

Paul Chappell and Lucy Crowther were David Lloyd’s top scorers.

Fulford lost their unbeaten run after going down to leaders Dunnington in division one.

Dunnington were inspired by Trevor Loten and Karen Mitchell.

Angus Smith made his seasonal debut with partner Caroline White for York, who are behind by a games difference of three.

Poppleton had a big win at Fulford seconds with two couples winning 30 games.

Bubwith have changed the look of division two after they beat leaders Dunnington and then drew with second-placed Wigginton.

Wigginton held onto second place after a battling win against York.

Poppleton were pushed all the way by Copmanthorpe, for whom mother and son combo Jack and Julie Wood were top scorers.

Phil Bremner and Lydia Morton won 31 games for Sherburn in division three as they recorded their first win at Wigginton.

Despite winning 22 games, Adrian Streetley and Nicky Horn were on the losing side as Stillington went down by two games to leaders Bishopthorpe.
