A PUBLIC meeting will be held tomorrow to outline planned improvements to a York railway junction.
Network Rail’s work at Holgate junction, which will see a new line being installed, is likely to lead to increased noise for part of August.
Residents are being invited to attend the meeting at English Martyrs’ Church to find out more about the project.
City of York Council leader James Alexander, a Holgate councillor, said: “This is an opportunity for residents to speak directly with officers from Network Rail who are responsible for the planned works.
“My concern as a councillor for Holgate is that everything possible is done to minimise the level of disruption to residents’ lives, in order that these essential works can be carried out.
“I am concerned at the levels and duration of noise the works could create.”
The meeting, which runs from 5pm and 6.30pm, is being jointly hosted by Holgate and Micklegate ward committees, and it will also allow residents to learn more about a proposed hotel development at Holgate Villas.
