I AM a single father with a son, who will be four shortly and starting school in September.
We live in a one-bedroom flat, and my boy still sleeps in a cot and will have to do so until we are moved to somewhere larger – there is no space in our bedroom for another bed or even one wardrobe.
We are lucky enough to have a balcony, although when I raised concerns for my son’s safety with the council, I was simply told not to let him out there.
There would be adequate council housing if more was done to move tenants with spare rooms. These properties may be their homes, but not their property.
Our quality of life is miserable and nothing would make us happier than to have a two-bed house or flat with a garden.
I appeal to anyone who is in a position to help us to get in touch as this situation is an absolute disgrace and nobody appears to care.
