LAST Saturday, ten members of the York branch of the Parachute Regimental Association conducted a street collection in the city centre for the Airborne Forces Security Fund.
In beautiful weather, ignoring our aching backs and sore feet, and thanks to the generous citizens of York and visitors, we were able to raise £1,390.95 for the fund. We thank them all, as I am sure will the recipients.
The main focus of the fund at this time is on the airborne men of the Second World War, conscripts, not pensionable, now in their 80s and 90s and many in need of help, and also those wounded in body and mind in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Donald Marshall, Chairman, The Parachute Regimental Association, York Branch.
