A FEW weeks ago, a deal was done with London Transport workers.

They were granted an over-inflation pay rise and bonus payments for an assurance that no strike action would be taken during the Olympic Games, presumably so that the “fat cats and corporate guests” attending the Games would not be inconvenienced.

Now Vince Cable warns that the Government will be forced to consider changing the law on industrial action if strikes impose serious damage to the economy. This would seem to be a case of double standards or shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted.

This government action will only be taken if the economy is affected. What about other times when commuters are inconvenienced when trying to get to work during a transport strike; or don’t they matter?
