Residents of a York care home had an unusual visitor in the shape of Simon the donkey.
The animal called in to Hartrigg Oaks Care Home in New Earswick to brighten up the day for residents.
He was visiting from The Elizabeth Svendsen Trust for Children and Donkeys in Leeds, which is primarily dedicated to providing therapy to people with special needs and disabilities.
Carol Raper, activities co-ordinator for the care home, said the animal seemed to take a particular liking to resident Valerie Marshall, a former nurse.
“Valerie was lying in her bed and Simon just strolled in and up to her bedside,” she said.
