THE driver of a car involved in a crash in which a York woman died remains in a critical condition in hospital.
A man in his forties, who is also believed to be from York, was driving an Audi late on the evening of June 2 when it collided with a lorry on the M1 in Nottinghamshire.
Heather Hardcastle, 37, of Tostig Avenue, Acomb, was a passenger in the car. She died from her injuries on Saturday morning, two days later.
The driver of the car, who has not yet been named by police but is understood by The Press to be her partner, was described by Nottinghamshire Police yesterday as being critically ill in hospital.
A police spokeswoman said they would like to speak to two drivers who pulled on to the hard shoulder to offer assistance after the accident, which occurred between junctions 25 and 26 of the motorway.
Anyone with information should phone Detective Constable Katie Stokes on 0300 3009999, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
