MAY I through your newspaper thank the people of York and elsewhere for their support last year in raising more than £6,000 for various projects through book sales in St Helen’s Church.
There were also a number of anonymous Charities Aid Foundation donations, for which we are very grateful.
The money is used to encourage and develop education and healthcare of the poor and needy in the poor areas of the world. This is of particular value for women in Africa, where they are often the only breadwinner in the family.
Our monthly sales have begun already this year and take place on the last week of each month until September in St Helen’s Church in the centre of York.
Our May sale raised of £2,200, so may I thank everyone for their generosity, including those who donate the books. Your support is invaluable.
David Laud, Grassholme, Woodthorpe, York.
