I LIVED in St Stephen’s Children’s Home in York from 1957 to 1964. I have very happy memories of my time in the home that brought fun, laughter and wonderful friendships that compensated for the endless days of waiting to go home.

I know that the beautiful Georgian home is now the Hotel Du vin, so I’m pleased others get to enjoy it. But I wonder if they hear the laughter of the kids sliding down the banister.

If any readers were in the home between 1957 and 1964 and have any photographs and would like to get in touch, I would much appreciate it. I live in Christchurch New Zealand and with our daughter and grandchildren. I only have two photographs.

My best friend was Susan Scholey. I think she still lives in York. I would be so pleased is she would contact me.
