A COUPLE have donated a “human sundial” as a gift to the school which educated their three daughters.
Mark and Clare Hoggart gave the gift to Joseph Rowntree School as their youngest daughter, Rosie, 18, has finished at the school which also educated Sarah, 20, and Amy, 23.
The Hoggarts, who own the Haxby-based company Fosstone, have recently had orders for the same sundial from the Maritime Museum of Bermuda and the University of Massachusetts.
Mrs Hoggart said: “It’s just a thank-you for getting the girls through their education. They have all got on really well and have blossomed into lovely young ladies. We want to thank them for the effort they have shown them as individuals.” The sundial has been installed outside the science block.
A spokesman for Joseph Rowntree School said: “The school would like to thank the Hoggarts, not only for their kind donation and their time in installing the sundial that will be enjoyed by our students for many years to come, but also for their continual support of the school and its staff over the last decade.”
