IN HIS letter “So don’t ordinary travellers matter?” (Letters, June 8), AP Cox rather ludicrously suggests that a deal done with London Transport workers, to obtain assurances that they wouldn’t strike during the 2012 Olympics, was for the good of the “fat cats and corporate guests”.
I’m sorry, but that is just not the real world. Those that AP Cox calls fat cats and corporate guests will be travelling to the Olympics in their helicopters, private planes and limos. We only have to look at our own York races to see this.
No, the deal was done to ensure that the thousands of ordinary people, inspired by the magnitude of the games, would have the opportunity of travelling at reasonable cost to see the games.
