The latest York Amalgamation match at the Laybourne Lakes fishery saw 29 rods tackle Marley Pool.
Kev Ellerby scored an easy win from peg one. Offering pole and pellet tight to the far bank, he bagged mainly carp with the odd skimmer bream for a 62lb 14oz finish. Rich Darling secured second spot from peg 36 with an all-carp 44lb 6oz.

A good turnout of 25 contested the veterans match on Wednesday. Pete Webster took the under-70s event with 40lb from peg 30 to head off the challenges of Pauline Rooke and Ray Peart, who had 29lb 4oz and 28lb 4oz respectively.
The over-70s category was won by Barry Richardson with 28lb 3oz from peg nine. His closest challenger was Alec Lambourne, who weighed in with 20lb 5oz from peg D3.

The latest round of the Bob-Co Spring League provided a thriller at Carpvale on Sunday with the scales unable to deliver a decisive verdict.
Dave Wright and Wayne Westmoreland finished the contest with 63lb 2oz of fish in the net.
Wright fished long pole and bread and pellet at eight metres from peg two, while Westmoreland used pellet at 13 metres from peg 13 for a mixed bag of bream and carp.
Steve Power took third with 60-0-0 off peg 27.

Bob-Co’s Lee Smith headed the frame on a cold and blustery day at Langwith from peg 19 on Kevin’s Lake where pellet to the island brought carp to 3lb for a 101lb 5oz tally.
The same approach at peg 25 on Bethany’s Lake saw teenager Jake Duckworth, of Strayside, put on another convincing performance to take second place with 77lb 4oz, small carp again being responsible.

Ben Walker got the nod at Oaktree Leisure with a carp-dominated 57lb 12oz from peg 27 on Pond Four. Using meat well across at 14 metres, Walker included carp to 4lb in his winning haul.
Second spot was filled by Tom Bainbridge, who alternated meat and corn at 14 metres off peg 10 to end the day with 53lb of carp.

Boost for juniors ahead of match
Next Friday sees the annual York Amalgamation junior match contested along New Walk Terrace.
The traditional curtain-raiser to the new coarse fishing season will be held from 6pm to 9pm with the draw taking place at Blue Bridge at 5pm.
Tickets are available in the usual outlets or from Terry Pinder on the bank. Support from parents will be welcome.
Junior anglers are to be treated to a second chance of glory this year as City of York Council will be sponsoring a junior match to coincide with the Festival of Rivers on July 15. Look out for further details in this column.
