THE YORK Environment Centre at St Nicholas Fields held a Give Or Take Day on Saturday.
Visitors were able to swap household and garden items they no longer needed for someone else’s unwanted goods.
Swappable items included books, toys, non-electric tools, bric-a-brac, kitchenware, furniture, jewellery, ornaments, bikes, parts and plants.
Entertainment was added to the free event with a performance of Compost! the mini-musical, as well as children’s activities and stalls.
John Brierley, project co-ordinator at St Nicholas Fields, said the event was a fun way to encourage people to reuse items. “Lots of things can be reused rather than thrown away to landfill,” he said.
