FIRE crews were called to a York restaurant in the early hours of this morning, after a fire in the kitchen activated the alarms of nearby businesses.
North Yorkshire Fire Service received six calls from members of the public at about 3.50am with reports of fire alarms at Budgens in Micklegate, offices in George Hudson Street, and the Travel Lodge hotel.
On arrival, fire crews discovered the alarms had been activated by accumulated smoke from a fire in the kitchen of the Karachi Restaurant in George Hudson Street.
Two crews from York and two crews from Acomb tackled the blaze using hose reel jets, thermal imaging systems and breathing apparatus, before the area was made safe at just after 6am.
Nobody was reported to have been hurt in the incident, and the scene will be revisited by fire crews today.
