AS A Englishman who took the Queen’s shilling back in the 1960s and vowed allegiance to Queen and Country, I took pride in once again watching the celebration of the Queen’s official birthday, the Trooping of the Colour in London.

There is no other spectacle to match this parade; the many thousands of spectators who flock to see it from all over the globe are testament to the pomp and glory that our military forces still can carry out to perfection.

Long live the Queen.
