PART of a huge government handout worth millions is to be shared between charities in our region to help them through the coalition Government’s spending cuts.
A number of organisations in Yorkshire and the Humber will share £9.5 million from the Government’s Transition Fund.
Among those celebrating the news is York’s Get Cycling organisation, which has been handed £49,000, and the North Yorkshire Business and Education Partnership Limited, which will receive £177,250.
Harrogate District Community Transport also benefits, with a £214,000 grant and Hull and East Yorkshire Mind, which supports people with mental health problems, as well as their families and carers, has been awarded £339,648 Nick Hurd, Minister for Civil Society, said: “We are opening up new opportunities for charities to deliver public services, cutting red tape and developing new sources of finance such as the Big Society Bank.”
