BOB Redwood (Letters, June 10) seems to have missed the point of my letter regarding the transport arrangements for the Olympics.

My main point was why should transport workers be paid any extra for doing their normal work. One would assume that there must be a special reason for this. The only one that springs to mind is keeping “the fat cats and corporate guests happy” and their inconvenience to a minimum.

They may have helicopters and private planes, but I was not aware that a new airport was part of the Olympic plan. As for their limos, if there was a strike and all the passengers who would have travelled underground have to travel on top, the limos would have to deal with the congestion like anyone else.

No consideration has ever been given before for thousands of ordinary people when a strike is pending. In fact the workers getting extra money for doing nothing extra during the Olympics are the same workers who are threatening to strike during Wimbledon.
