A MASSIVE police search has been launched as the investigation into a missing dad-of-two enters its third day.

Search helicopters, underwater divers and mountain rescue workers have been scrambled to help detectives search for David Huitson, 62, who was last seen by his family at about 2.30pm on Monday.

He left his address in Springfield Road, Pocklington, to go for a walk and has not been seen since.

Speaking at a press conference at Pocklington police station today, Sgt Pete Rogers said officers were becoming “extremely concerned” for the welfare of Mr Huitson, who suffers from Parkinson’s Disease.

If he does not take his regular medication Mr Huitson, who has been married for 40 years and is well known in the Pocklington area, suffers from walking problems and has been known to become confused, Sgt Rogers said.

He added: “We are working very closely with his family to locate Mr Huitson. We are sending an urgent appeal for any members of the public if they have any information, no matter how small, to contact us as a matter of urgency.”

Sgt Rogers said they are working on a number of lines of enquires and believe Mr Huitson is still in the Pocklington area, although he said officers have not ruled out he may have caught or bus or flagged down a passing car.

Local residents have been urged to help police by searching their sheds, garages or outbuildings for any sign of Mr Huitson.

He is described as white, 5ft 9ins tall, stocky build, with short, straight black hair. When last seen he was wearing a light grey coloured, long sleeved jumper, dark grey jogging bottoms and black shoes with Velcro fastenings.

Anyone with information should contact Humberside Police on 0845 6060222, quoting log 660 of Monday June 13.
