St Leonard’s Hospice in York will try to rival the summer’s top venues like Ascot, Henley and Wimbledon when staff break open the Pimms at their summer fair on Sunday, June 26.
Liz Thistleton, the head of housekeeping, and Penny Deakin from the catering team, will run the Pimms tent at the fair, and have been getting into practice by experimenting with different fruit combinations – and sampling the results.
The Pimms tent will be just one of the attractions at the fair, which again promises to be a great day out for all the family. Open from 1pm to 4pm, the fair takes place in the grounds of the hospice in Tadcaster Road.
There will be a variety of games and stalls to entertain visitors of all ages, a party fun bus for children and music throughout the day. There is also a hog roast, and other light refreshments will be available in the Stables coffee stop.
There will also be a chance to meet hospice mascot Lenny Bear, who will be out and about at the event. There will be no parking at the hospice on the day. Visitors are encouraged to use the Park&Ride car park at Askham Bar, across the road.
Judith Wilson, community fundraiser, said: “Sunshine and Pimms are the two essentials to a summer afternoon. “We can’t guarantee the first, but Liz and Penny will be ready on June 26 with the Pimms and other refreshing drinks.”
