STAFF at a Royal Mail sorting office in Selby will not be affected by job losses despite the company recording a £120 million loss.

This week, Royal Mail bosses announced up to 28 of the company’s 59 sorting centres around the UK may have to close, and that changes to thousands of jobs would be inevitable.

A spokeswoman for Royal Mail confirmed yesterday that the Selby delivery office was not included in the 59 centres at risk in the changes.

In November, the company announced that the York Central and West delivery offices would remain on site and in the existing mail centre building.
