HAVING read your interview with The Rev Geoff Mumford (The Press, June 14), I see no reason why he should be asked to resign from the parish council.

He was speaking not as a councillor, but as a resident, as other councillors have done – why have they not been asked to resign?

Not everyone in Copmanthorpe is against the proposed wind farm. The pro group tend to keep their thoughts to themselves rather than face the verbal abuse and mockery from a few of the hardline protesters.

I applaud Rev Mumford for having the courage to speak up for what he believes in and am sure he will have the support of the other parish councillors. The parish council is there to support the views of the residents, which is why they have sent out a survey with this month’s village newsletter.

I hope all residents will reply to this, whether for, against or not bothered, so that the parish council can then represent the views of the whole village.

Speaking personally, it is good to know there is someone on the parish council who will promote my views, which surely is what democracy is all about.
