OUR friend Vince Cable is asking for real trouble, warning of what he will do if workers exercise their right to strike while chief executives of blue-chip companies enjoyed a median pay rise last year of 32 per cent.

At the same time he is trying to upset the bankers over the loans they should be making. The Government is lucky to have such a broad-shouldered man on side to take flack from both sides.

Perhaps Vince or any other member of the Government can explain how we are going to reduce the deficit and pay off the huge interest while still borrowing £400 million every day.
