IT IS great to see The Press and City of York Council launch the campaign to find 100 apprenticeship places in 100 days (The Press, June 14).
As someone who campaigned in the local elections to encourage improvements in work placements and more get more businesses taking on apprentices, I am glad others see this as something that is great for the city.
I myself was an apprentice and it was a great way to learn while being paid, as well as learning from those who are experienced I found a more practical application to help educate me and gave me a career as an electrician.
Good luck with the campaign and hopefully it will see more people move into a career from an apprenticeship.
