A 91-YEAR-OLD man has died following a crash between two cars and a lorry in East Yorkshire.

A 48-year-old driver of an LGV bulk waste skip lorry has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, following the crash on the A1079, about half a mile from Killingwoldgraves roundabout, near Bishop Burton.

The lorry, a silver coloured Ford Ka and a light green Skoda Octavia were travelling along the A1079 when the vehicles collided shortly after 3pm on Wednesday.

The Ford Ka was being driven by a 61-year-old woman from the Driffield area who suffered whiplash injuries and shock.

Her front seat passenger was the 91-year-old man, also from the Driffield area. He was cut free from the car by firefighters and taken to Hull Royal Infirmary but pronounced dead a short time later. He has yet to be named by police.

The Skoda was being driven by a 63-year-old man from North Lincolnshire, who was treated for shock.

The Beverley man who was driving the lorry was uninjured. He was arrested at the scene and interviewed. He was later released on police bail.

The stretch of road was closed in both directions for about seven hours as the vehicles were recovered and officers investigated.
