MOUNTAIN rescue search teams are scouring fields today as the hunt for a missing dad-of-two enters its fifth day.

David Huitson, 62, was last seen by his family at about 2.30pm on Monday when he left his home address on Springfield Road, Pocklington, to go for a walk.

Despite a massive police operation, involving search helicopters and underwater divers who have scoured lakes near the Pocklington area, there is no trace of Mr Huitson.

Swaledale Mountain Rescue have now volunteered to help and will be accompanying detectives in searching the fields around Wheatland Close before moving onto farmland near Burnby Lane, Pocklington.

Members of the public, who have been volunteering their help to the police search, will also be joining in the search in areas around Pocklington town centre.

Police are still appealing for a man who told a fellow dog walker of a sighting at Allerthorpe Woods yesterday morning between 6.30am and 7pm. The walker spotted a man matching the 62-year-old's description but despite a search so traces of Mr Huitson was found.

Mr Huitson is white, 5ft 9ins tall, stocky build, with short, straight black hair.

When last seen he was wearing a light grey coloured, long sleeved jumper, dark grey jogging bottoms and black shoes with Velcro fastenings.

If he does not take his regular medication which treats his Parkinson's disease, Mr Huitson, who has been married for 40 years and is well known in the Pocklington area, suffers from walking problems and has been known to become confused, Sgt Rogers said.

Posters have been produced and are being distributed in Pocklington and residents in the area are being reminded to search their sheds, garages or out buildings for any sign of Mr Huitson and asked to report any possible sightings to police.

Mr Huitson or anyone who knows his whereabouts or believes they may have seen him since he was last seen on Monday, should contact Humberside Police on 0845 6060222, quoting log 660 of Monday June 13.
