THIXENDALE cantered to victory over Pocklington in the York & District Junior Cricket Association Under-13s League Zone ‘A’.
Pocklington batted first, with A Shepherd (30) scoring more than half of the runs as they closed on 59-9. W Burns (2-7) and T Foster (3-5) caused the batsmen problems.
Thixendale reached their target with seven wickets to spare. D Litherland bowled well for Pocklington, taking 2-8.
Heworth defeated Acomb in their Zone ‘B’ clash.
Matty Fairburn (30) top-scored for Heworth, who batted first and ended on a total of 98.
This proved just too much for Acomb, despite A Taylor (31) and O Fryer (30) batting well. R Cowley did the damage with the ball, taking an impressive 4-8.
A Burton and T Hannan made hay for Osbaldwick in their Zone ‘B’ match with Clifton Alliance.
Burton scored 31 and Hannan made 30. This was too tough a target for Clifton Alliance who, despite an unbeaten 21 from J Atkinson, fell 40 runs short. B Richardson took 2-5.
York ‘A’ were surprisingly beaten by eight wickets by Sheriff Hutton in their Zone ‘B’ clash. They made 94 batting first, Matthew Maltby (33) and E Long (31) providing the bulk of the runs.
Sheriff Hutton made light work of the imposing total. Dan Cass and W Atkinson both scored 33 and T Gill made 31 in their successful chase.
Londesborough Park beat Stamford Bridge by 74 runs in Zone ‘C’. H Gamble (32) and Joe Shingles (30) were on form as Londesborough Park rattled up 109-5.
Their bowlers then set to work, skittling the Stamford Bridge batting line-up for only 35. Toby Stephenson and T Cartwright both took 2-1 and Rory Stevenson chipped in with 2-3.
In the U15 League Zone ‘A’, Osbaldwick beat Woodhouse Grange by 69 runs.
Darren Harris hit 50 not out in an impressive batting display. Declan Calum took 2-13 to enforce some sort of control over the Osbaldwick batsmen.
Woodhouse Grange fell short in their reply, making 79-8.
Clifton Alliance put on a batting masterclass as they beat Pocklington in Zone ‘B’.
Will Scholey top-scored with an unbeaten 50. T Foster was the pick of the bowlers with 3-42 as Clifton Alliance racked up 184-3.
Pocklington then stuttered to 79-9, C Quarton top-scoring with 38. Lewis Clark took 3-9 to limit the Pocklington batting line-up, leaving a final winning margin of 105 runs.
Sheriff Hutton Bridge lost to Acomb by five wickets in their hard-fought Zone ‘C’ clash.
Dan Clipston top-scored for Sheriff Hutton Bridge with 37.
In reply, Acomb’s Smith (44no) and Thompson (26no) were the stars of the innings, as their side easily reached their target of 101.
Sheriff Hutton Bridge’s Stephenson bowled well under the circumstances, taking 2-16.
