A NORTH Yorkshire MP has called for more support for deaf people through telecommunications.
At the House of Commons yesterday, Nigel Adams, MP for Selby and Ainsty, asked whether the roll-out of superfast broadband could support Video Relay Services (VRS), for deaf people.
The campaign, VRS Today, called for British Sign Language users to have universal access to the visual system, which allows them to place calls to hearing people via a sign-language interpreter.
Mr Adams said: “Deaf people should be able to benefit from available technologies which could transform their lives.”
