POLICE in Selby are searching for a witness after a fast-food delivery man was robbed in the town.

The 38-year-old victim, from Knottingley, had delivered a pizza to an address in Byram Park Road, at about 9.20pm on Tuesday, June 14.

When he returned to his car, he was dragged away from the vehicle by two men, who stole his mobile phone and money, and left him with bruises to his face, and torn clothing.

A police spokesman said they also wanted to speak to a man who spoke to the victim after the robbery, and may have witnessed the event.

He gave his name as Alan, and told the victim he lived locally, but police have as yet been unable to locate him.

Detective Constable Lee Maeer, of Selby CID, said: “We have made house-to- house inquiries on Byram Park Road but have so far been unable to trace the man who spoke to victim. The robbery naturally left the victim shaken and it is possible that he may not remember the witness’s details correctly.

“I am asking that ‘Alan’ or anyone who can identify him, contacts me straight away as he is clearly a vital witness and may be able to help identify the robbers.”

North Yorkshire Police said the first robber was white, about 5ft 10ins tall, of medium build and in his mid-20s, with short hair, a number of tattoos on his arms and a teardrop tattoo on his face.

The second man was only described as white.

If you were the person that that spoke to the victim of the robbery or can help to identify him, phone Detective Constable Maeer at Selby Police Station on 0845 6060247, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
