IN reply to Owain Gardner (Letters, June 11), the 50 per cent housing rule is a Labour-supported policy.
I suggest Owain does his homework and gets a better understanding of the concerns expressed by York’s house builders and architect Matthew Laverack.
The truth of the matter is this policy is killing York’s house building, and it has done for the past six years.
Why should York’s house builders be more or less forced to build affordable housing at less than cost and give their land away for free?
House builders have not been made part-nationalised and are not registered charities.
This 50 per cent affordable housing rule is a discriminatory policy against York’s house builders.
