HEALTH services in Selby are being transferred to the town’s new hospital as a two-week switch begins.
The New Selby War Memorial Hospital, in Doncaster Road, will house facilities including 24 inpatient beds, a minor injuries unit, improved outpatient services and a range of mental-health care.
The transfer of services has now begun, with those previously delivered at the town’s Raincliffe Street clinic, including podiatry and community dental care, being moved on June 27 and 28.
The hospital is part of the £22 million Selby Community Project, a partnership between NHS North Yorkshire and York and Selby District Council, which includes a new civic centre.
Patrick Crowley, York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust chief executive, said: “Last week, we moved inpatients to the new inpatient unit and we will be moving the rest of the services over a two-week period. We know this will be challenging for staff, patients and visitors and would kindly ask they bear with us.”
Leaflets showing where facilities and services can be found at the hospital are available from its reception, the Friends of Selby War Memorial Hospital and local GP practices, and at selbycommunityproject.org.uk
