RESIDENTS are being invited to attend the first meeting of City of York Council’s new cabinet today.

For the first time, the meetings of the senior group of councillors, who have responsibility for the authority’s various portfolios, will be held at different locations across the city to make it easier for people to attend.

They will be held in the early evening, rather than during the afternoon as was the case under the council’s previous executive, so residents who have work commitments can get involved.

Today’s meeting will be held in the Brierley Room at the York Explore centre in Museum Street at 6.30pm, with the agenda including a decision on whether to sell the Kent Street coach park site to North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service.
