A MAN was punched in the back of the head after leaving a beer festival near York, say police.
North Yorkshire Police said the 51-year-old victim had just left the Thorganby Beer Festival with his girlfriend at 12.15am on Sunday, when a group of four men began shouting abuse at the couple.
One of the men then punched the man in the back of the head before the group made off in the direction of Wheldrake.
Officers now want anyone who was in or near The Jefferson Arms on Main Street, to contact them with information.
Sergeant John Suchomski, of Selby Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “This attack tainted what was otherwise a popular and peaceful event, leaving the victim and his partner distressed and shaken.
“The festival was visited by many local people and it is possible that someone may have witnessed the assault or knows the identity of those responsible.”
If you can help, phone Sgt Suchomski on 0845 6060247, quoting reference number 12110100421.
