THE staff at a school near Selby which was ordered to improve by a Government watchdog are celebrating an improvement.
Barlby High School was placed in the Notice To Improve category by Ofsted and given a list of improvements to make following its 2010 inspection, including the quality of learning and teaching.
This year’s report said “the quality of teaching and learning has improved”, noted “there is a more rigorous approach to teaching and assessment,” and “challenging work is matched to students’ capability which enables them to make rapid progress”.
Heather Scott, head teacher, said: “We are thrilled with the outcome.
“Learning and teaching is our day-to-day craft, one which all colleagues at Barlby strive consistently to improve. I am so pleased that Ofsted recognised that we had eradicated inadequate teaching, and that the large majority of lessons were good or better.”
