OLYMPIC spirit is sweeping through a York primary school after it became part of London 2012’s Get Set network.
New Earswick Primary School is one of four in York to be welcomed into the network and will receive exclusive ticket allocation and access to special competitions.
Head teacher, Carole Dickson said: “By joining the Get Set network we will have some amazing new opportunities and will help our small school to really feel part of this amazing event.”
From September, the school will plan its curriculum around the Olympic Games, from writing newspaper reports to developing maths skills around speed and time.
To commemorate the occasion The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) awarded the primary school with a plaque and certificate.
Lord Coe, chairman of LOCOG, said: “I am proud to welcome New Earswick Primary School in the Get Set network for their exciting work around the Olympic Values of friendship excellence and respect.”
