YORK bus drivers have helped to raise hundreds of pounds for a children’s football team.
First Buses donated money and donned their favourite football shirts to work to raise £700 for the Pocklington under-12s football team.
Peter Taylor, operations manager for First in York, said: “Everyone entered into the spirit of the day and our sport strips certainly made people smile.
“The young Pocklington team was chosen as one of our drivers has a young relative who plays for the side.
“Kits such as Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester United and Hull were worn with pride. One driver, who is a local referee, even wore his black kit for the day.”
Les Falkingham, manager of the under 12s team, said the business also held a Guess The Score competition. He said the money would be used to fund a new kit for the children and towards a defibrillator.
