On the lookout for a get away from it all rural retreat? Then Hogg the Builder might just have what you are looking for…The company’s development at Low Farm, Kirby Grindalythe, features a select gathering of only ten homes in a lovely country courtyard setting.

With all the usual Hogg quality refinements and a host of nifty extras, like built-in stereo systems and top-class kitchen kits, they also cleverly combine contemporary comforts inside and traditional external frontages.

Sound tempting? Well, this might be the time to pop out and take a look, as Hogg is offering to pay five per cent of your deposit on selected plots as part of its special opening weekend this Saturday and Sunday.

The development offers a range of home styles with three, four and five-bedroom options on offer, all with the trademark Hogg feature fireplaces, Sky satellite connections to TV points, quality fitted kitchens and security alarm systems.

The Hogg team have given us a sneak preview of two of the homes on offer – and very impressive they are, too… The Hayloft, for instance, is a three-bedroomed house, cleverly built to echo the features of a barn conversion, with a very individual and quirky design that makes it a lot different from your average three-bedder.

It has a sitting room with an Inglenook fireplace and multi-fuel stove, a superb kitchen/dining room with a range of integrated appliances, granite worktops, tiled floors and a Rangemaster oven (there’s also a downstairs cloakroom). On the first floor there is a master bedroom with en-suite and two further double bedrooms and a family bathroom. There’s a single garage and a south-facing garden with a good-sized decking area. Oh, and you get all of this for a very reasonable £249,950.

And if you think that’s good value (and we certainly do) then you might also want to check out one of its neighbouring properties, Byre Cottage. As the name suggests, this is a double-fronted cottage property which has super views across the village and to the famous church spire. “An excellent holiday retreat or home to retire to,” say Hogg of this home.

It has a sitting room, again with Inglenook fireplace and multi-fuel stove, a kitchen/dining room with French doors opening out onto a “small but beautifully landscaped” garden, a utility room and downstairs cloakroom. The master bedroom here also has an en-suite bathroom (and built-in wardrobes) and there is a further double bedroom and a single bedroom. Included in the price are floor coverings throughout (oak flooring to the hallway) and a single garage. And that price is? Well, another reasonable figure, we think, of £239,950.

Kirby Grindalythe itself is a picturesque village in beautiful countryside, tucked away from the hurly-burly but still within easy reach of the market towns of Malton and Driffield and just a short scoot to the North Yorkshire coastline.

The showhome at Low Farm is open Saturday and Sunday, 10am-5pm. For further details or to arrange other viewing times, phone 0845 790 6030.
