So the leader of the Unison union has come out all guns firing, huffing and puffing about the pension reform plans.
He is threatening sustained and indefinite strike action over the Government’s proposed changes to the public-sector workers’ pensions, under which the retirement age is going up to 66 in years to come.
Public-sector workers will have to pay an extra three per cent from their wages, to increase pensions at retirement age. What is wrong with that? Why should the public purse pay for this?
Yes the people that Unison represents are facing a real struggle, like everyone. But why should unison members be exempt from what the Government are promising to do?
