A NORTH Yorkshire man has completed a watery challenge to raise cash for a children’ hospice.
Jon Palmer, 50, from Tadcaster, took part in the Great North Swim at Windermere, finishing in 33rd place in his age category out of 10,000 swimmers.
A former captain of North Yorkshire Police lifesaving team for six years, Jon has saved several lives, is a cover supervisor at Tadcaster Grammar School and also swims at Tadcaster Swimming Pool with the Tadcaster Masters.
He was among a group of six from the Masters who took part in the Windermere event, with three of them raising money specifically for Martin House Children’s Hospice at Boston Spa.
He said: “I am delighted to have raised a total of £200 in sponsorship so far for such a worthy charity and hope that people will continue to give generously to me even after the event.”
