POLICE have issued a fresh appeal for witnesses after a serious crash between a car and a motorbike on a North Yorkshire road.

The collision happened at about 5.40pm on Wednesday on the B6164 between St James Retail Park and Little Ribston, near Knaresborough, and involved a black Yamaha R6 bike and a grey BMW 320 car.

The motorcyclist, a 27-year-old man from Tadcaster, was taken to Harrogate District Hospital and later transferred to Leeds General Infirmary, where he remains in a serious condition. A passenger riding pillion on his bike, a 24-year-old man from Wetherby, is in a stable condition in hospital in Harrogate, while the BMW driver received treatment for minor injuries.
