THE waiting is over – Yorks Schools FA have settled on their under-11s’ squad for the upcoming season.
Trials were held over three Monday nights this past month during which close to 65 boys were sent by their primary schools to take part.
Coaches from York Schools FA were involved in the selection process with the final trial against last year’s U11 team deciding a final squad of 15.
The boys’ first game is a friendly at Hull on Wednesday, June 29.
Players are asked to meet at B&Q in Hull Road at 4.30pm. The game is due to kick off at 6.30pm on the 3G pitch at Hull University.
Of the trials’ process, team manager Ian Hutchinson said: “The trials went smoothly and this is down to the level of support received from the other coaches within the York Schools FA set-up.
“Matt Brown, Steve Drake, Tony Wales, Matt Gore, Andy Swires, Paul Hurst, Andy Barkway and Gary Kitson represented York Schools FA, while Neil Sanderson and Bob Whitaker from local coaching company CFD also offered their support.”
Added Hutchinson: “Assistant managers from the under-11s – Brendan Qualter and Ryan Qualter – and myself are pleased with the final selection and are looking forward to a successful season in 2011/12.”
