YOU’RE never too young to learn football...just ask these mini Messis, who are learning the beautiful game with Wigginton Grasshoppers, the only club in York which is training pre-school children, writes Simon Ritchie.
Many of the three and four-year-olds are from Wigginton and Haxby, but children from other parts of the city have signed up to attend the sessions.
The youngsters are given the basic skills by qualified coaches led by Dave Scoreby.
There are no competitive games, as the emphasis is on fun and enjoyment. And they have just been given a brand new kit, thanks to Kris Leeson who owns Woodthorpe Dental Centre.
The team trains on a Saturday morning from 10am to 11am at Wigginton playing-fields, off Mill Lane.
If anyone is interested in joining, phone Scoreby on 01904 763584.
