As a keen local sportsman and volunteer worker for sport, how much longer are we expected to put up with City of York Council ruining any chance of pensioners being able to afford to play bowls in the town centre?
I would just like to point out a few of their recent highlights: closing Exhibition bowling green due to the Big Wheel farce, then in Clarence Gardens they tarmac a lovely path up to a gate which does not open, and put yellow lines down in the lane leading to the green where about six cars could park while having a game of bowls.
Okay we can go and park in Union Terrace – oh, sorry, I forgot: part of that is just for homeless accommodation and the rest is to be sold off for foreign university students.
Of course, I forgot, we can go on the Park&Ride bus, which is now going to be 50p, but you can travel free if you don’t get on at the Park&Ride stop.
Thank God they did not award the 2012 Olympics to the city of York.
