A WOMAN from York has been taken to hospital after a crash on the A59 at Hessay.
Fire crews used hydraulic cutting equipment to release the woman, in her 50s, from her red saloon car which ended up in a ditch near the entrance to Hessay Industrial Estate.
She was taken by ambulance to York Hospital with serious injuries, which at this stage, are not thought to be life threatening, police said.
Any witnesses to the single vehicle accident, which happened at about 6.20pm, should phone North Yorkshire Police on 0845 6060247, quoting the reference number NYP-28062011-0430.
The A59 was closed in both directions and reopened at 7.40pm.
