FRESH plans have been drawn up to turn part of a York pub’s beer garden into a car park after it was earmarked for a major refurbishment.
Enterprise Inns, which owns the Yearsley Grove in Huntington Road, wants to create 13 extra spaces on a garden area which the firm says it is “in a poor state of repair”. It originally submitted a planning application for the car park extension to City of York Council earlier this year before withdrawing it.
In a planning statement, the pub chain said it wanted to “transform” the pub, just north of Bell Farm, from “a poor-quality licensed outlet to a vibrant and quality operation”.
Enterprise also said it would retain a beer garden area if the plans for the extra parking were approved. A decision is expected in August.
