Coun James Alexander, the leader of City of York Council, has been appointed to senior positions on two committees within the Leeds City Region.
Coun Alexander was appointed Labour deputy chairman of the leaders board, on which the leaders of the 11 authorities which make up the Leeds City Region make strategic decisions. Peter Box, leader of Wakefield Council, was appointed chairman of the leaders board. Coun Alexander was also appointed vice-chairman of the Leeds City Region employment and skills board, while Coun Dave Merrett, cabinet member for city strategy, was appointed to the organisation’s transport board and Tracey Simpson-Laing, cabinet member for health, housing and adult social services, was appointed to its housing board.
