VOLUNTEERS from York Against Cancer and the Rotary Club will be out in force in York city centre on Saturday, selling programmes for the annual Dragon Boat Challenge.
The event, which takes place on Sunday, July 10, will involve rowing teams, many in fancy dress, racing down a 250 metre stretch of the River Ouse between Scarborough and Lendal bridges.
Already into its ninth year, the sponsored Dragon Boat Challenge will raise money for York Against Cancer, along with other charities nominated by the teams.
Julie Barnie, general manager of York Against Cancer, said: “We are delighted to be the chosen charity this year and we are looking forward to an exciting and fruitful day.”
Each programme is numbered and will be entered into a raffle.
The lucky winner will pick up four first- class return tickets to any destination on the East Coast rail network.
