I WOULD like to endorse what Richard Atkinson had to say regarding the proposed visitor attraction in York (Letters, June 24), which will highlight York’s illustrious history as a chocolate manufacturing centre.
A city-centre site is to be applauded. However, the crucial part that the Rivers Ouse and Foss played in getting the ingredients delivered to Terry’s and Rowntree factories in York should not be overlooked, so that Rowntrees Wharf must surely be a better bet, particularly as there have been plans in the past for such a museum on this site.
Meanwhile, can anybody tell me what progress, if any, is being made on turning the iconic clock tower at Terry’s factory site into a “chocolate museum?”
