RESIDENTS are being encouraged to remember to recycle wherever they are, whether at home or away, as part of national Recycle Week.
Elizabeth Parker, City of York Council’s Waste strategy officer, said: “York residents are already brilliant at recycling. Their efforts have meant that as a city we’re now recycling more than 45 per cent of our total household waste.
“But there’s always more we can do. It’s relatively easy to recycle at home, but much harder to make the effort when you’re out and about.”
Youngsters at a school in York are already doing their bit to help increase recycling. Council leader James Alexander met pupils from St Barnabas School to see how their efforts to recycle more and waste less were going.
